Rooted In Blackness

Rooted in Blackness (RIB) is a non-profit organization that supports African-American / Black students in Lane County, Oregon. Our goal is to provide a safe space for our youth to explore and appreciate the beauty and complexity of their Black experience. RIB not only empowers our youth to appreciate their art, music, literature, and culture but also celebrates their roots of blackness.

To have a collective of Black leaders and advocates committed to empowering our silenced but ambitious students by providing opportunities to excel in life.

Rooted In Blackness (RIB) is committed to supporting our African American identified youth in Lane County navigate their path to a successful future. RIB will do this by creating a space where students can express themselves, provide academic and outreach opportunities, and work hand in hand with families, schools, and community partners to enhance the quality of life for each student.
